Students

No. of Students: 284 (230 boarding)

Students at the school are from the rural Miao ethnic community. They receive dual-language education (Miao & Mandarin) in the first and second grades. Students are energetic. 80% of students are “left-behind children”. After graduation, students continue their studies in Fenghuang County’s #1 and #2 junior highs.

Teachers

No. of Teachers: 19

All teachers live on campus. English, music, PE, and art teachers all specialize in their respective subjects. Computer classes are also taught. Homeroom teachers are in charge of boarding students and their after school studies.

– Dormitories
– Library: two rooms, includes 50 computers
– Cafeteria: too small, the education bureau promises to build another larger one; provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
– Restrooms: pit-style toilets

Problems/Issues

The teachers’ dormitory is old, but the county education bureau has plans to build a new one next year. The grounds of the athletic field need concreting.
